Annual All Saints
plus a fellowship Lunch
November 17th, 2018 at Noon
On Saturday, November 17th, our club will observe its annual
All Saints' Memorial Service followed by a fellowship meal in Cathedral House and a lecture by Leslie Bussis Tait, who is a Museum Educator at the Metropolitan Museum.
First, we will gather for the Noon service in St. Columba's Chapel, to remember all the saints of God, past, present and future. We will make a special remembrance of those who have died in the past year, including members of The Laymen's Club and other good and faithful souls who have served our Cathedral.
Then, around 1pm, we will adjourn to Cathedral House for a fellowship lunch and our lecture. Our lecturer is Dr. Leslie Bussis Tait of the Metropolitan Museum. Leslie has been with the Met since 2004 and is a PhD in the History of Art from Columbia University. She is an Educator for Museum Teaching and will present a 40-minute discussion of the history of vestments and the general reasons why some items look the way they do and the role they play.
The Cathedral has made a proposal to the club for a grant to upgrade some of our vestments, which are particularly important now that we are live streaming mass! This lecture should help us understand the request.
This event ticket includes lunch with wine in Cathedral House, followed by the presentation, ending around 3pm. The price for this event is $40, including meal, drinks and lecture.
This event is also open to non-members
